HOCHTIEF CONSTRUCTION AG

Civil Engineering and Marine Works - CEM Branch

HOCHTIEF is represented on all major markets with a performance of 12.78 billion euros in the fiscal year 2002 and with a foreign market share of 84 percent: In Germany, in the USA - the greatest building market world-wide - and in Australia, HOCHTIEF is a market leader; the company also holds a leading position in South-East Asia.

In Europe, HOCHTIEF holds fourth position, and fifth position word-wide. At this time, a total of around 33,000 employees are working for the company.

HOCHTIEF has developed continuously from a traditional building company to an international construction service provider and has consistently expanded its services.

HOCHTIEF Construct ion AG is at the core of the HOCHTIEF Group. It includes above all high-rise construction in Europe, civil and underground construction and engineering as well as the construction of airports.

Within HOCHTIEF Construction AG, the Civil Engineering and Marine Works branch, Hamburg, and its office in Bremen brings together the competences for offshore activities, for world-wide harbor construction and engineering works on waterways.

Among these activities, this branch also includes offshore wind energy utilization. The problem of "utilization of renewable energy" is becoming ever more pressing.

In the Scandinavian countries where favourable locations are available, several projects have been completed successfully and are in operation. The UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany are planning and preparing large windmill parks.

Our branch participates in the current projects with the design and layout of foundation structures (design, planning, production, assembly) requiring location-specific solutions and therefore demanding high standards.

It is the goal of HOCHTIEF Construction AG to expand these activities up to a company-wide overall solution for windmill parks.
